The Guardians face off against the High Evolutionary (Iwuji), the person who experimented on Rocket (Cooper), and wants to continue using him for nefarious purposes.
The film premiered at Disneyland Paris on April 22, 2023, and was released in the United States on May 5, 2023, as part of Phase Five of the MCU. The film received positive reviews from critics and has grossed $282.1 million worldwide, becoming the sixth-highest-grossing film of 2023 (as the writing of this, I know it’s gonna do even better!).
It’s James Gunn, so I am guaranteed to see it, plus it’s another entry in the MCU so I am doubly guaranteed to see it! The Guardians of the Galaxy has been among my favorite entries in the series; the mixture of action, humor, and emotional moments have been perfect and this one kicks it into overdrive! [Seriously, if this doesn’t hit you in the feels you have no heart!] Not to mention they all got bitchin soundtracks!
Gunn is one of the best modern day ensemble cast directors working today, and everyone in this is bringing their A game. The main cast own their characters, and have gotten better with each entry. It’s been so great to follow these characters for close to a decade now. These adventures together might be done, but I know we’ll see more involving them on separate journeys in the years to come. What else can I say? At this point it should be obvious you should see this movie!
