Peter Stormare

Rolf Peter Ingvar Storm (born August 27, 1953), known professionally as Peter Stormare, is a Swedish actor, voice actor, musician, playwright, and theatre director. He began his career with the Royal Dramatic Theatre, to which he belonged for 11 years. During this period, he was a favorite of famous Swedish director Ingmar Bergman, who had stopped making movies, but still directed plays for the Royal Dramatic Theatre. Stormare played, for example, the title role in Hamlet and Jean in Miss Julie, both directed by Bergman.

Stormare is known for his work in Joel & Ethan Coen‘s Fargo (1996), with Frances McDormand, William H. Macy, Steve Buscemi, and Harve Presnell; Steven Spielberg‘s The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997), with Jeff Goldblum, Julianne Moore, and Vince Vaughn; Playing God (1997), with David Duchovny, Timothy Hutton, and Angelina Jolie; Coen’s The Big Lebowski (1998), with Jeff Bridges, John Goodman, Buscemi, Moore, John Turturro, and Philip Seymour Hoffman; and Michael Bay’s Armageddon (1998), with Bruce Willis, Ben Affleck, Liv Tyler, Billy Bob Thornton, and Michael Clarke Duncan.

Other notable roles include Lars von Trier’s Dancer in the Dark (2000), with Björk, Catherine Deneuve, David Morse, Cara Seymour and Joel Grey; Wim Wenders’ The Million Dollar Hotel (2000), with Jeremy Davies, Milla Jovovich, Mel Gibson, and Amanda Plummer; John Woo‘s Windtalkers (2002), with Nicolas Cage, Adam Beach, and Christian Slater; Spielberg’s Minority Report (2002), with Tom Cruise, Colin Farrell, Samantha Morton, Max von Sydow, Kathryn Morris, and Tim Blake Nelson; Bay’s Bad Boys II (2003), With Will Smith and Martin Lawrence; Terry Gilliam‘s The Brothers Grimm with Matt Damon, Heath Ledger, Lena Headey, Jonathan Pryce, and Monica Bellucci; Constantine (2005), with Keanu Reeves, Rachel Weisz, and Tilda Swinton; The Zero The Zero Theorem (2013), with Christoph Waltz, David Thewlis, Mélanie Thierry, and Lucas Hedges; and 22 Jump Street (2014), with Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and Ice Cube.

Stormare has also appeared in various TV movies, miniseries, and shows such as Purgatory (1999), with Sam Shepard and Eric Roberts; Hamilton (2001), with Lena Olin and Mark Hamill; Hitler: The Rise of Evil (2003), with Robert Carlyle, Stockard Channing, Peter O’Toole, Thomas Sangster, and Liev Schreiber; and American Gods (2017-2021), with Ricky Whittle, Ian McShane, and Cloris Leachman.
