
Phillip Roger Noyce AO (born April 29, 1950) is an Australian film and television director. A prominent figure of the Australian New Wave movement (which includes Gillian Armstrong, Bruce Beresford, Tim Burstall, John Duigan, Richard Franklin, Ken Hannam, George Miller, Russell Mulcahy, Henri Safran, Fred Schepisi, Brian Trenchard-Smith, Peter Weir, and Simon Wincer), he’s received various accolades, including AACTA Awards for Best Film, Best Director and a special Longford Lyell lifetime achievement award.

His early films include Backroads (1977), with Bill Hunter and Gary Foley; Newsfront (1978), with Hunter, Wendy Hughes, Chris Haywood, Bryan Brown.
