
Angus Scrimm (born Lawrence Rory Guy; August 19, 1926 – January 9, 2016) was an American actor, author, and journalist, known for his portrayal of the Tall Man in Don Coscarelli’s Phantasm franchise (1979-2016), collectively with A. Michael Baldwin, Bill Thornbury, Reggie Bannister, Kathy Lester, James LeGros, Paula Irvine, Samantha Phillips, Gloria Lynne Henry, Heidi Marnhout, Bob Ivy, Dawn Cody, and Stephen Jutras. He also appeared in Coscarelli’s Jim the World’s Greatest (1976), with Gregory Harrison, Bannister, and Marla Pennington; and John Dies at the End (2012), with Chase Williamson, Rob Mayes, Paul Giamatti, Clancy Brown, Glynn Turman, Daniel Roebuck, and Doug Jones.

He also appeared in various films by Jim Wynorski, such as The Lost Empire (1984), with Melanie Vincz, Raven De La Croix, Angela Aames, Paul Coufos, and Robert Tessier; Chopping Mall (1986), with Kelli Maroney, Tony O’Dell, John Terlesky, Russell Todd, Paul Bartel, Mary Woronov, and Barbara Crampton; Transylvania Twist (1989), with Robert Vaughn, Teri Copley, Steve Altman, Ace Mask, Jay Robinson, and Boris Karloff; Munchie (1992), with Loni Anderson, Andrew Stevens, Jaime McEnnan, Arte Johnson, Jennifer Love Hewitt, Monique Gabrielle, and the voice of Dom DeLuise; Munchie Strikes Back (1994), with Lesley-Anne Down, Andrew Stevens, Trenton Knight, John Byner, Steve Franken, Natanya Ross, and the voice of Howard Hesseman; and Vanpirella (1996), with Talisa Soto, Richard Joseph Paul, Roger Daltrey, and Brian Bloom.
