Robert Houston Eggers (born July 7, 1983) is an American filmmaker, screenwriter and production designer. His films are noted for their folkloric and mythological elements, as well as his efforts to ensure historical authenticity. He made his feature directorial debut with folk horror film The VVitch (2015), with Anya Taylor-Joy, Ralph Ineson, Kate Dickie, Harvey Scrimshaw, Ellie Grainger, and Lucas Dawson. His other films include the fantasy drama The Lighthouse (2019), with Willem Dafoe and Robert Pattinson; and the historical epic The Northman (2022), with Alexander Skarsgård, Nicole Kidman, Claes Bang, Taylor-Joy, Ethan Hawke, Björk, and Dafoe.
