John Boorman

Sir John Boorman, CBE (born January 18, 1933) is an English filmmaker and writer. He is also credited with creating the first Academy Award screeners to promote The Emerald Forest. In 2004 Boorman received the BAFTA Fellowship for lifetime achievement from the British Academy of Film and Television Arts. Boorman best known for his feature films such as Point Blank (1967), with Lee Marvin; Hell in the Pacific (1968), with Marvin and Toshiro Mifune; Deliverance (1972), with Burt Reynolds; Zardoz (1976), with Sean Connery; Exorcist II: The Heretic (1977), with Linda Blair, Richard Burton, Louise Fletcher, Max von Sydow and James Earl Jones; Excalibur (1981), with Nigel Terry, Helen Mirren, Patrick Stewart, and Liam Neeson; The Emerald Forest (1985), with Powers Boothe, Meg Foster, and Charley Boorman; Hope and Glory (1987), The General (1998), with Brendan Gleeson; The Tailor of Panama (2001), with Pierce Bronson, Geoffrey Rush, Jamie Lee Curtis, Gleeson, Catherine McCormack, Leonor Varela, and Harold Pinter; and Queen and Country (2014), with David Thewlis and Richard E. Grant.
