Set three years after the events of the first film, the story follows Elsa, Anna, Kristoff, Olaf, and Sven who embark on a journey beyond their kingdom of Arendelle in order to discover the origin of Elsa’s magical powers and save their kingdom after a mysterious voice calls out to Elsa.
The film has grossed $392 million worldwide so far and received mostly positive reviews from critics, who praised its animation, visuals, music and vocal performances; criticism focused on its plot. The film had the highest opening for an animated film of all time.
It’s a sequel to a Disney film that I enjoyed, of course I was going to see it in theaters! I’m definitely glad I did, this is a very satisfying sequel. The story does a great job expanding on the world and delving more into magic and how it works. There’s also the theme of figuring out your place in the world, something I’m sure many can relate to.
The cast once again does a great job, along with the new characters. The new songs will definitely be sung over and over to the point of annoying some like with the first movie; I’ll definitely be one of those people singing them over and over. The animation is also once again absolutely gorgeous, with amazing details and textures.
So yeah, go see it.
