
Panos Cosmatos (born February 1, 1974) is a Greek-Canadian filmmaker and screenwriter. Born in Italy to Greek filmmaker George P. Cosmatos and Swedish sculptor Birgitta Ljungberg-Cosmatos. The family moved to Victoria, British Columbia, in the early 1980s. His first break in the film industry was being a second unit video assist operator for his father’s film Tombstone (1993). With DVD residuals from Tombstone, he financed his first feature film, Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010), with Michael Rogers, Eva Allan, Scott Hylands, Marilyn Norry, and Rondel Reynoldson. His second feature was the action horror film Mandy (2018), with Nicolas Cage, Andrea Riseborough, Linus Roache, Ned Dennehy, Olwen Fouéré, Richard Brake, and Bill Duke.
