Alexander Proyas (born September 23, 1963) is an Australian filmmaker and screenwriter. He made his feature debut on Spirits of the Air, Gremlins of the Clouds (1989), with Michael Lake, Rhys Davis, and Norman Boyd. He gained more international attention with his adaptation of The Crow (1994), with Brandon Lee, Ernie Hudson, Michael Wincott, Bai Ling, Sofia Shinas, David Patrick Kelly, Michael Massee, and Jon Polito.

Other notable films include Dark City (1998), with Rufus Sewell, William Hurt, Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, Richard O’Brien, and Ian Richardson; Garage (2002), with Kick Gurry, Maya Stange, Pia Miranda, and Russell Dykstra; I, Robot (2004), with Will Smith, Bridget Moynahan, Bruce Greenwood, James Cromwell, and Alan Tudyk; Knowing (2009), with Nicolas Cage and Rose Byrne; and Gods of Egypt (2016), with Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Brenton Thwaites, Chadwick Boseman, Élodie Yung, Courtney Eaton, Sewell, Gerard Butler, Geoffrey Rush, and Bryan Brown.
